Messina Trucking, Inc. traces its beginnings to the mid-1950s when the company’s founder, Steve Messina, Sr., acquired a tandem International truck and drove on a contract basis for other trucking companies in the Metropolitan Detroit Area. With a brief respite when he was drafted in the wake of the Korean War, he returned to dedicate himself to trucking. Soon, he had developed a solid reputation and the contracts kept coming. The amount of work dramatically expanded and he was no longer able to carry all of the loads himself. As a result, in 1965 Messina Trucking, Inc. was born.

As Steve Messina, Sr. continued to build and expand Messina Trucking, Inc., additional trucks and accomplished drivers were needed as he expanded the business to serving underground contractors as this work was ongoing throughout all four Michigan seasons. Contracts began pouring in from Macomb County, Oakland County, Wayne County, Lapeer County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County.

As the accounts came in Messina Trucking soon found customers requesting that they also supply materials and aggregate in addition to hauling. The depth of the company’s services naturally expanded to serving sewer contractors, commercial contractors, commercial excavators, municipalities/counties, Michigan Department of Transportation, road builders, bridge builders, residential contractors, and residential homebuilders. In fact, the majority of man-made lakes in the region were more likely than not to have been the work of Messina Trucking, Inc.
